New gadgets

The fun thing about being an adult is that you can buy yourself stuff. I am eagerly awaiting two new things:

1) A Squeezebox 3. This is a wireless networked media player with a high quality DAC. I can now retire my £600 CD player, which has the same Brown-Burr DAC in it.

2) A Linksys NSLU2 (aka a "slug"). This is a network storage device that I can attach my USB disks to, however the fun thing is that you can re-flash it to run Linux. I can have a home server running from something the size of a large matchbox! I can run a web server and Subversion, as well as a media server (for the Squeezebox). The best thing of all is that this thing can be permanently on without my girlfriend suspecting an unnecessary use of electricity.
