Dubrovnik

Just been back from a fabulous holiday in Dubrovnik. The main attractions of this place are: the sun, the sea, the rocks, the city, the city walls, lokrum, ice cream, peacocks, baby peacocks, mljet, the fact that the language is so unusual, the war.

The recent war was - according to our guide's opinion - Slobodan Milosovic's fault. Serbian generals had spread rumours among their people that the Croatians were out to get them, and were discriminating against the Serbian minorities. This is untrue, however it's amazing what you can get people to believe with a bit of propaganda. So anyway, Dubrovnik came under siege and held out for over a year. Bosnia fared a lot worse than Croatia. Lots of people dead, all due to Milosovic.

Dubrovnick is now almost completely restored, in spite of all roofs being blown off. Here is a photo. I think she's saying "it's this big".
