The root of all evil?
Recently saw a good program on TV called "The root of all evil?" presented by Richard Dawkins. A lot of extreme and dangerous religious nuts from all faiths were wheeled out, making religion seem completely ridiculous. Which it is of course. I just wish that atheism was presented more widely, this has to be one of the first programs I have ever seen to criticise religion. How tolerant should one be? Why should I wish to spoil other people's hope in an afterlife? I think religion is a bad thing overall, in the sense that it makes people's lives worse. This is what I want to change. If people didn't have this evolutionary instinct to form groups and mistrust what wasn't your group, the world would be a much nicer place.
People like religion because it gives them identity. I say, lose the mumbo-jumbo, and keep your identity via your culture, but realise it is just culture, not an absolute truth.

Huge fan of prof. dawkin's brilliance and bravery, however although i now have no religious belief, i have a complete belief in the spiritual world and therefore see God as Eternal Spiritual Existence. I believe Conscience comes from spirit, not physical and i believe it is only a matter of time before spiritual eveidence will be shown.
